Water security is a redundancy problem, not a gadget problem. Rainwater harvesting is usually the cheapest second source you can add: these guides show what a roof actually yields per inch of rain, how to size storage for your climate, and how to keep the water clean enough for the use you intend.

If you're on a well, a solar well pump removes your single point of failure. There's a full sizing walkthrough here for 300 feet of lift on 600 to 900 watts of array, including why you pump slowly into storage instead of on demand. Have fall on the property? A developed spring can deliver 40 psi at the house with no pump at all.

Emergency water storage closes the gap: one gallon per person per day is survival, five is normal life with dishes and hygiene. Work out your own target with the tools here, then use gravity drip irrigation running at 4 psi so the garden doesn't drain the tank in August.
